  • Ironmaking including coke, sinter and other raw materials.

  • Steelmaking including process kinetics, process control and automation.

  • Extraction and processing of other metals like Zinc, Coppers, Titanium, etc.

  • Modelling of processing of iron and steel and other metals.

  • Mineral beneficiation and agglomeration.

  • Emerging trends in materials processing including bio-beneficiation, chemical leaching, etc.

  • Energy, environment, waste management and recycling.

  • Casting, solidification, hot rolling and cold rolling.

  • Heat treatment including annealing.

  • Bulk and sheet metal forming including microforming.

  • Phase transformations, thermodynamics and diffusion.

  • Mechanical behaviour including structure-property correlations.

  • Characterisation of materials.

  • Corrosion, wear and tribology.

  • Surface engineering including coatings.

  • Failure analysis including fatigue, fracture, etc.

  • Non-destructive testing and evaluation.

  • Metallic glasses, mechanical alloying and rapid solidification processing.

  • Development of new materials including materials for space applications.

  • Development of materials for the automobile and white goods industry.

  • Development, processing and application of nanomaterials.

  • Microstructural engineering and design of new materials including microstructure sensitive design.

  • Materials modelling including first principle calculations.
