Day 1: Monday, 13th November, STATS 2006, Tata Auditorium
STATS 2006 will begin at 9:00 hours at the Tata Auditorium (see point 1 in the Jamshedpur map) and will end at 18.00 hours. The fully airconditioned Tata Auditorium has a seating capacity of about 1200. All the facilities required for hosting an international conference such as LCD projector for Power Point presentations, Laptop/Desktop, Laser pointer, etc., will be available. The author presenting the paper must bring the soft copy of the material to be presented in a CD/memory stick in MS Power Point format and ensure that the same is loaded on the computer before the session begins. The operating system shall be MS Windows XP.

Twelve invited talks (each lasting 20 min., followed by 5 min. of Q&A) will be delivered by eminent speakers from China, Europe, India and Japan, representing both the automobile and the steel industry. STATS 2006 will be a truly memorable event that you can not afford to miss.

Detailed Programme: STATS 2006 will be conducted in a totally business-like manner. After a brief welcome by the IIM President, the invited talks will begin. Mr. Ravi Kant, MD, Tata Motors (representing automakers) will chair the forenoon session and Dr S K Bhattacharya, Ex-MD, DSP and past President, IIM (representing steelmakers), will chair the afternoon session.

The technical programme will be immediately followed by a Laser Show at the Jubilee Park (see point 2 in map), which will chronicle the saga of Jamshedpur and Tata Steel in a unique environment. Dinner will follow at the Jubilee Park Picnic Area (within walking distance).

The delegates will NOT have an opportunity to return to their hotels / places of residence once the afternoon session is over. Therefore, they should come prepared right from the morning to be in the open in the Jubilee Park in the evening.

It should also be noted that there will be no separate break(s) for tea/coffee during any of the sessions in STATS 2006. Delegates can go for tea/coffee in the foyer of the Tata Auditorium any time, while the session is in progress.
