:: Chronology of Events of STATS and NMD-ATM2006 - Day 1: 13th Novenber, 2006::

Day 1: Monday, 13th November, STATS 2006, Tata Auditorium
STATS 2006 will begin at 9:00 hours at the Tata Auditorium (see point
1 in the Jamshedpur map) and will end at 18.00 hours. The fully airconditioned
Tata Auditorium has a seating capacity of about 1200. All
the facilities required for hosting an international conference such as
LCD projector for Power Point presentations, Laptop/Desktop, Laser
pointer, etc., will be available. The author presenting the paper must
bring the soft copy of the material to be presented in a CD/memory
stick in MS Power Point format and ensure that the same is loaded
on the computer before the session begins. The operating system
shall be MS Windows XP.
Twelve invited talks (each lasting 20 min., followed by 5 min. of Q&A)
will be delivered by eminent speakers from China, Europe, India and
Japan, representing both the automobile and the steel industry.
STATS 2006 will be a truly memorable event that you can not afford to
miss.
Detailed Programme: STATS 2006 will be conducted in a totally
business-like manner. After a brief welcome by the IIM President, the
invited talks will begin. Mr. Ravi Kant, MD, Tata Motors (representing
automakers) will chair the forenoon session and Dr S K Bhattacharya,
Ex-MD, DSP and past President, IIM (representing steelmakers), will
chair the afternoon session.
The technical programme will be immediately followed by a Laser
Show at the Jubilee Park (see point 2 in map), which will chronicle the
saga of Jamshedpur and Tata Steel in a unique environment. Dinner
will follow at the Jubilee Park Picnic Area (within walking distance).
The delegates will NOT have an opportunity to return to their
hotels / places of residence once the afternoon session is over.
Therefore, they should come prepared right from the morning to
be in the open in the Jubilee Park in the evening.
It should also be noted that there will be no separate break(s) for
tea/coffee during any of the sessions in STATS 2006. Delegates
can go for tea/coffee in the foyer of the Tata Auditorium any time,
while the session is in progress.

The abstracts of most of these papers have already been received;
the remaining authors have been requested to send their abstracts
latest by 1st September. All the abstracts will be featured in the Fourth
Circular. Detailed guidelines for preparing the full papers, the last date
for which is 15th September, have been sent to the authors. All the
twelve papers will form a part of the Proceedings of STATS 2006,
which will be distributed to all the delegates prior to the
commencement of the Symposium.
