Tuesday, 14th November: National Metallurgists’ Day at the Tata Auditorium
The schedule

The NMD celebrations will begin at 9:30 hours. The Chief Guest will be the Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India. Dr R. A. Mashelkar, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, will be the Guest of Honour.

To commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Year of IIM, a special session has been organised in the afternoon at 5 pm in which Dr. J. J. Irani, Mr. S. C. Wadhawan, Prof. P. Rama Rao, Dr. V. S. Arunachalam, Prof. P. Ramachandra Rao and Prof. E. G. Ramachandran will reminess for about 10-12 minutes each sharing their experiences and views given their long association with Indian industry/research/education. It should be a very special event from which all IIM members will stand to gain.

Wednesday, 15th November: Annual Technical Meeting Day 1
The schedule

The ATM will begin at 8:30 AM at six venues (two within the XLRI campus, two in the Centre for Excellence and two in the Tata Management Development Centre). All these venues are within walking distance. Five hundred papers were received, out of which 228 have been allocated for Oral presentation and around 250 will feature as Poster papers. The ATM papers have been grouped into three broad categories - Minerals, Processes and Products. The Posters will all be displayed subject-wise in the NMD Pavillion opposite to the Tata Auditorium and the delegates are requested to spend their free time discussing these papers with the authors who will be present.

For the accepted Oral presentations, the distribution is Mineral - 38 (only in one venue - Centre for Excellence Library); Processes - 76 (two venues - both in XLRI) ; and Products - 114 (three venues - two in Tata Management Development Centre and one in Centre for Excellence Auditorium).

For the first time in any ATM, inter-connectivity is being provided between the venues so that any delegate in location (A) can access locations (B) and (C) and listen to any paper that he/she is particularly interested in. For this purpose, kiosks with headphone arrangements are being provided in all three locations for the ATM.
