Participation of Metallurgy and Materials Science Students in NMD-ATM 2006

A special initiative has been taken to encourage students to participate actively in the NMD-ATM 2006 celebrations at Jamshedpur. For this purpose, five third year students of metallurgy / materials science from the following twelve institutes have been invited along with

IIT, Bombay	NIT, Rourkela
IIT, Kanpur	NIT, Jamshedpur
IIT, Kharagpur	NIT, Durgapur
IIT, Madras	Jadavpur University, Kolkata
IIT, Roorkee	BIT, Sindri
IT-BHU, Varanasi	Bengal Engineering and Science University, Sibpur

Each of the above institutes has been requested to send a technical paper before 1st November to the Chairman, Technical and Publication Committee. Out of the papers received, the six best papers will be selected. For each selected paper, one student (to be chosen by the HOD) will be required to make a 15 minute presentation just before the Concluding Session at the Tata Auditorium on 16th November. The best presentation will be awarded the Tata Steel Centenary Rolling Trophy, especially instituted for this purpose by Tata Steel this year.

Separate letters have already been sent to the twelve institutes giving all the details. All the twelve institutes are requested to respond.

The students and the staff members will have an opportunity to interact with the President and other officials of IIM at the Centre for Excellence Auditorium at 9:30 am of Friday 17th November. The interactim will be followed by a special visit to Tata Steel Works. Lunch will follow. The students and staff can depart from Jamshedpur earliest at 3:00 pm on 17th November.
