Materialia Indica
An India-centric online community of materials scientists and engineers
Dear Colleagues, Students,
We are pleased to announce the launch of Materialia Indica, an India-centric community website (and blog) by and for
materials scientists and engineers: academics, researchers, post-docs, graduate and undergraduate students in materials
science and allied fields (minerals, metallurgy, ceramics, polymers ...). The About Materialia Indica page has more
details.
While a part of Materialia Indica is decidedly India-centric (announcements about conferences, job openings, awards and
recognition, etc), there will be a lot in there -- journal club, classic papers, teaching tips, etc -- that materials
science folks everywhere should be able to participate in and benefit from.
Materialia Indica is a community website which is open to from materials researchers everywhere. We therefore invite you
to join us at Materialia Indica and participate in the conversation with the larger materials community. Becoming a
member is easy: please give us your contact details in the form on the Contributors page, and we will be happy to send
you a membership invitation.
Materialia Indica is an interesting new project for all of us, as it involves a bit of community-building. Starting
something like Materialia Indica is something that we have been talking about in different groups for over several
years -- but we were always sure about its usefulness. We are glad that we have finally got this project off the ground.
Once again, we are pleased to invite you to join, and contribute to, Materialia Indica. We look forward to your
participation there.
We end this mail with a request: please share this mail with your friends, colleagues and students, and urge them to
join the Materialia Indica community. We thank you in advance for your help in spreading the news about the site.
Regards,
Abi (T.A. Abinandanan, IISc)
