Dear Members
The Indian Institute of Metals, with its family of more than 10000 professionals, represents a vibrant community of scientists, engineers and managers engaged in the practice of mineral processing, metallurgy and materials. It has a rich tradition of distinguished and exemplary leadership. It is a matter of great pride for me to represent the organisation this year. The heart of the society lies in its membership and the 50 odd Chapters that represent the Institute all over India. Its resilience and growth will be determined by what the organisation can bring to this multifaceted community. IIM today offers education, knowledge enhancement, opportunities and forums for interaction, an international presence and an engagement with government, industry, research and development and academia. We have to nurture the initiatives taken in recent years in each of these diverse areas, as well as carve new pathways that are responsive to the changing environment around us. I look forward to engaging with all of you in what I am sure will be another exciting and fulfilling year for all of us.
