Dr. Basu is Dy. Chief Technology Officer and Head of Aditya Birla Science and Technology Co. Pvt. Ltd.His areas of technical expertise are computational fluid dynamics, engineering simulation& system optimization, solidification science and metals& materials processing.

Dr. Basu has over 30 years of experience in R&D and Technology Management and joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2003. Prior to joining the Aditya Birla Group, he was Senior Consultant in Tata Consultancy Services leading a R&D group on Engineering Simulation in Corporate R&D centre (Tata Research Development & Design Centre). Dr. Basu was a Visiting Scientist at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics in Erlangen, Germany, from 1998-99.

Dr. Basu is well recognized R&D leader globallyand successfully demonstrated value-driven R&D in varieties Technology domains& Businesses. Between 1984 and 2003, he was instrumental in setting-up Industrial Process Modeling Research group in Tata Consultancy Services and led it to be the premier R&D group globally.Dr. Basu is one of the key architect’s to build Aditya Birla Group’s Corporate R&D Center which he is leading now. Between 2004 & 2006, he also successfully led a major New Technology program on “Computational Fluid Dynamics in Manufacturing” in the Aditya Birla Group with a range of technology/products (textile to metal), demonstrated return in investment and it is first of its kind in India. Dr. Basu received Chairman Leadership Award in the Aditya Birla Group in 2008 for this achievement.

Dr. Basu completed his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 1981 and a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 1984. He completed a PhD in fluid mechanics and materials processing from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 1991.

Dr, Basu is recipient of Young Metallurgist Award from IIM in 1990 and Young Scientist Award in1989. He over 40 publications in International Journals, 50 conference presentations and 2 patents. Dr. Basu is keynote speakers in several National and International Technical Conferences.
