Short Courses
A 'Sub-committee on Professional Education Courses (SPEC)' was formed in 2020 as a second wing to AMIIM, under the existing Education & Examination Committee.
This Committee is responsible for setting procedures and does advise in providing technically sound and proficient educational courses and programmes that enhance members’ professional knowledge at each career stage through technical information exchange, facilitation of opportunities, and encouraging diversity in professional development. It as an initiative of SPEC also assists in the development of ongoing education opportunities, including webinars, courses, eLearning modules, and other educational programming. IIM has started conducting short-term courses, combined with some of the MOOC courses, on standard subjects. The courses may be outlined as modular or certificate courses.
In the short term, industrial courses and e-learning modules are being looked upon.
Two courses as held in during 2021:
a) Automotive material light-weighting (Course Coordinators: Prof Sudhanshu Singh, IITK, and Prof Jayant Jain, IIT-D)
b) Aluminum alloy casting technology (ABSTC Course Coordinator: Dr Vilas Tathavadkar)
